Here’s a pneumonic for secondary causes of HTN (as listed in JNC VII): TRACKPADS. Can be helpful for NBME questions, as well as the hospital/clinic I guess.
T = Thyroid disease (hyper-)
R = Renovascular disease (renal artery stenosis)
A = Aorta (coarctation of)
C = Cushing syndrome
K = chronic Kidney disease
P = Pheochromocytoma
A = Aldosteronism (hyper-)
D = Drugs (oral contraceptives, decongestants, NSAIDs, etc.)
S = Sleep apnea
