		<description>Kiana,  My post wasn't meant to worry you--only to inform about the realities of academics.  If there is any point that I am trying to get across in this blog, it's that you have the best chance of succeeding at what you want to do (e.g. internal medicine) when you know as much as possible going in.  (Which is why I share all of the crazy stuff that happens to me--so others can hopefully avoid those things).  

In any case, I definitely know a lot of successful academicians in internal medicine--those who've managed around the realities of their fields.  What I wrote about in this post is just something for you to keep in mind and be aware of as you try to navigate towards your career goal.
